Ambassador Application

Malo lelei my name is Dekorah and I am ten years old. I am the best person to be an Ambassador for 2016.I am the best person for the job because I have a good confident voice and I know how to do speeches and mihi’s. My favourite subject is literacy and I am respectful, natural and remarkable.I also do as I am told instantly and I listen very carefully to what people say.I am kind and honest.

One thing that I’ve learnt this year is about native animal reports. Its like animals adapting to survive. For example the Kakapo is endangered and its habitat is high up in the mountains in the south island. The Kakapo uses its beak for an extra claw to help it find it’s berries in the trees. For the interesting facts I search up  facts about the kakapo. And then I type it in my own words like the kakapo is nocturnal and makes big bowls in the ground to make its breeding sound called “,Boom”, For my Animal report click here

What makes me become an ambassador makes me confident in everything I do learn and think it helps me become better for my learning and I would like to be an ambassador to help my learning to become a presenter for our school.

Writing test

This is our writing report test:

The Sick Eating Challenge

P.1: Introduction

Yuck! I thought to myself. In team 4 we were doing an experience and it was called the eating challenge.

P.2: How to play the game

We were really surprised that we were going to do the eating challenge, but if you want to try it then this is how you play it. First we got a partner and one of us has to put our hands behind our back and the other has to feed us and be the other person’s hands. When you’re feeding the person with no hands you have to make sure that they can eat everything up to win the challenge, when you’re the other person with no hands you have to chew and swallow everything up when your partner is feeding you. When you’re finished your turn you swap over for the next person to be the feeder and the other one is the eater.

P.3: When it was my turn

When it came to my turn I had my partner Sheena and she nearly stuffed all the cream and Weetbix in my face eww! But after my turn my buddy Sheena was the one I had to feed when I put the Weetbix up to her face she nearly bit my finger cause she gobbled up the Weetbix snack. After the Weetbix snack she ate she also had to eat her apple with cream still munching up cream.Gross!

P.4: My favourite part

My favourite part of the game is when I got to feed my buddy because it wasn’t really bad at all but when I ate my Weetbix snack my buddy shoved it all at my face and my face I had to wipe it all off. Blah! My favourite part of the game is when I got to feed my buddy because it wasn’t really bad at all but when I ate my Weetbix snack my buddy shoved it all at my face and my face I had to wipe it all off with a tissue. Blah!

P.5: Conclusion

I felt like I was gonna throw up after this. I prefer that we get something else instead of Weetbix and cream with apple all shoved into your mouth. Eww!

Chair Tiggy Recount

WALT: To practise doing recounts.

Paragraph 1: Introduction.
Paragraph 2:  What to do and how to play the game
Paragraph 3: How we played the game.
Paragraph 4: My favourite part of the game.
Paragraph 5: Conclusion.

Aww!  I said to myself.  Our literacy class were playing a game called Chair Tiggy. I was the first one to start running.

In Chair Tiggy there are two teams. One team is for the running team and the other team is the taggers team. If you're a runner your job is to not get caught from the taggers and you can also run in between the chairs of the tagging team. If you’re a tagger your job is to tag the person but you are not allowed to run in between the chairs. the rest of your team are sitting in their chairs and you can tap on the back of their chairs so your team can go and get the runners.

Now our game wasn’t easy because instead of playing in the field we got to play on the gravel and they would hurt if you trip on them. When we were a runner we’d go and not get tagged for about one minute and then we’ll get caught from exhaustion.
Our taggers are mostly fast and after everyone on the runners team has had a turn we swap over to become taggers and we get to do the same thing.

Wow what an amazing show I thought in my head, before assembly we had an awesome show called Cindy in da house on the last day of school. On Monday me and my brother Lynn was signed up in a school holiday programme we went into two different programmes and they were called Allan Brewster and YMCA Lagoon in Panmure. On Mondays and Fridays we would go to Allan Brewster on the rest of the days we would go to the YMCA Lagoon, we liked it there because my granduncle works right next to the YMCA. On Monday we did games day we did sports and teams all day. All week we had to go to the holiday programme and we had very good fun. At the Lagoon we would sometimes go out and go to the park one time we went to the Howick historical village. On Friday it was a good day for me because I got to go on my own my little brother was very sick so i got to go by myself I had a disco party at Allan brewster it was fun there was lolly scrambles and glow sticks everyone got a growling for not listening though. After that i felt really good for going out and meeting new friends. I think next time I should go to YMCA Lagoon in Panmure because it’s more fun than Allan brewster.

Eating worms

Our teacher made us eat worms.
Yesterday our teacher Mrs Garden got us to eat worm.Eating worms! Ewe they sounded disgusting.

First of all we got two bowls. Then we gave a bowl to a person in a circle. Then the person put in the whole block of hard worms in the bowl.We passed the bowl onto another person and they got to pour in the tasty chicken flavour. Then our teacher poured the hot water into the bowls and we stirred the worms until they went all soggy yuck!

Our teacher Mrs Garden fed the worms to us like a bird.  When we were finished everyone was messy with the squirmy worms. They went everywhere. The worms had a tasty chicken flavour and were slopping down on everyone’s faces. It sounded yucky!

I think that tasting worms in real life would be very disgusting. Ewe!
But tasting chicken flavoured noodles is similar but yummy.

Making butter

WALT: write an introduction that orientates and hooks in the reader. Did you know that butter is easy to make? Well all you need is a bottle of cream and a pinch of salt plus it’s not expensive. Also if you run out of butter you can just make some with cream and salt then all you have to do left is shake the cream and when it’s done you get butter.
In room 8 we made butter while sitting in a circle with our teacher Mrs Garden. First we got a little bottle of cream, jar, plates, bread, and salt. Then we opened the cream and poured it into the jar, we put in a pinch of salt, then our teacher started shaking the jar then passed it on to us for a minute. Yum! We got to taste the creamy butter on two slices of bread and we spread the butter ourselves on a plate. It taste like the butter milk that came out of the butter yum yum. That is the way to make butter.
